The Federal Government has appointed Hajiya Saratu Shafii as the Acting Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
This was disclosed in Abuja on Tuesday by the Head, Public Affairs of the CAC, Moses Adaguusu.
Adaguusu noted that Shafii’s appointment was conveyed to the commission through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
He added that until her appointment, Shafii was a Director, Incorporated Trustees Department of the CAC.
It would be recalled that the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) had on December 28, ordered the immediate past Acting Registrar-General of the commission, Ms Azuka Azinge to step aside for not declaring her assets.
Azinge, who was accused of receiving allowances she was not entitled to as an Acting Registrar-General of the CAC, was also arraigned before the CCT on December 23, 2019 on an 11-count charge, which borders on false declaration of assets.
The tribunal directed the Hon Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment to execute the order of suspension to subsist, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice dated and filed on Dec. 17.
