Tension as Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases rise to 81, spreads to Enugu

Nigeria’s COVID-19 cases witnessed an astronomical rise on Friday night as no fewer than 16 new infections were detected in the country.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had at about 08:00 pm yesterday, confirmed three cases in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and two in Oyo State.

The agency, however, announced confirmation of 11 new cases shortly before midnight.

According to a tweet on its verified Twitter handle, 8 of the 11 cases were recorded in Lagos State, two in Enugu and one in Edo.

“11 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 8 in Lagos, 2 in Enugu & 1 in Edo State.

“As at 11:55pm 27th March, there are 81 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. 3 have been discharged with 1 death”, the NCDC tweeted.

The announcement brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 81.
