Following the seal of the Jabi Lake Mall as a result of the concert it hosted which violates the rules of social distancing and the use of face masks in public places imposed by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on Covid-19; the details of how musician Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, was able to journey from Lagos to Abuja to attend the concert has been revealed.

Executive Jet Services, the flight operator, were said to have provided false information to secure approvals for the flight from the federal government.

The minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, through his verified Twitter handle @hadisirika disclosed that the flight that conveyed Naira Marley to Abuja was approved for a different purpose, adding that the flight operators violated the waivers given to them for the journey.

According to Sirika, “The flight was approved to convey a service Justice from Lagos to Abuja and back, on official assignment. (Judiciary considered essential services). Flight operator violated approval.”

The operations of the flight company, which was allegedly co-owned by business mogul, Aliko Dangote, has now been suspended.

“Operations of the flight company have been suspended indefinitely, and they will also be fined. Flight Captain will also be sanctioned for providing false information,” Aviation minister confirmed.

It would be recalled that sometime in April, the federal government had imposed a subsisting ban on interstate journeys, including air travels, in order to checkmate the spread of the rampaging Corona virus.
