Emerging reports has it that the Indian community in Lagos is now the hardest hit by the rampaging coronavirus.

A medical doctor (names withheld) who works in one of the Indian hospital in Lagos told INSIDER that 26 Covid-19 related deaths have been recorded in the last two weeks.

“Ilupeju is especially the hotbed right now. Contact tracing has begun, but the large number of this people is a serious issue,” the doctor said while pleading not to be named.

Covid-19 has been known to thrive in crowded communities where social distancing is limited or not observed at all. The huge Indian population in major Lagos settlements may therefore pose a great challenge of curtailment of spread of the disease.
