Delegates from across Ondo state are presently converged at the international cultural and event centre, otherwise known as the some, in Akure for the primaries election to pick the APC governorship candidate for the October 10 elections in the state.
The primaries, which will be indirect, witnessed some horsetrading amongst the aspirants following a late night meeting yesterday at the heritage intercontinental hotel, Akure.
At the meeting, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, who doubled as the chairman of the national primaries committee of the APC, told the aspirants that delegates from across the local government areas were already on their way to the state capital. This announcement jolted the aspirants who had earlier expected that the primaries would be conducted on local government basis.
After a heated argument in which one of the aspirants, Chief D.I. Kekemeke told the meeting that he felt the party was not fair to its members and especially the aspirants, delegate list was eventually given to each of the aspirants at about 11:22pm.
Although some of the aspirants muted the idea of either decamping from the APC or boycotting the primaries, reasons eventually prevailed after the lawyers among them advised that boycotting the elections would deny them any justification to challenge the outcome.
As about 1pm this afternoon, the screening for delegates eventually commenced with Aloko South West.
