Heavy rainfall, lasting almost all through the night has wreaked havoc in several parts of Ilorin.

The rain which started at about 11pm Saturday night led to the destruction of both public and private properties and also disrupted electricity supply with the damage to electric poles and wires.

The Kwara State government is yet to issue any official reaction to the destructions caused by the rain, especially the now serious problem of flooding in most areas affected by the rainfall.

A check across town by this reporter revealed a heavy damage caused by the rain.

Mr. Solihu Raji, a resident of Alore area told INSIDER that the rain has almost drawn the whole of his house.

“If this type of rain should reoccur just one more time, I would be left with no roof over my head. Now is the time for the government to focused more on addressing the challenges posed by flood. Although the wind of yesterday was largely responsible for the destructions, we still need to address flooding to avert greater danger,” he said.
