BREAKING: Patigi bye-election— Tribunal declares PDP candidate, Yahaya, winner

The House of Assembly Election petition tribunal sitting in Ilorin today declared Mohammed Yahaya of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate winner of the bye-election for the Patigi constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly.

It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adam Rufai, the winner of the election which held in March.

The INEC Returning Officer for the election, Dr Abdulazeez Ishola of the University of Ilorin, had declared that Rufai of the APC polled 10,354 to defeat his main challenger in the election, Mohammed Yahaya of the PDP who was said to have polled 4,623 votes.
