Saliu Tanko Yakassai, the Media Adviser to Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Kano State governor, has described the government of President Muhammadu Buhari as one with zero empathy for the people.

In a series of tweets on Sunday morning, Yakassai lent his voice to the #EndSARS campaign going on across the country, explaining that he was tired of having to watch and endure what he described as the “I don’t care” attitude of the Buhari government.

“I’ve never seen a govt with zero empathy like that of @MBuhari. So many times when his people are going through a difficult time & expect some sort of tap on shoulder to reassure them that he is in charge, but he failed to do so. The ‘i don’t care attitude ‘ is on another level,” Yakassai said.

Explaining the reason he had to speak out publicly against a man he campaigned for in both 2015 and 2019 elections, the Kano governor’s aide said notwithstanding his position as an appointee of a governor elected on the platform of Mr. Buhari’s party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), he would not lose his voice and would always choose to stand with the people.

In his words, “Whatever u do in life, make sure u never lose ur voice. Speak up against injustice, speak up against inaction, speak up for what u believe in, demand for ur right and never let a temporary position or privilege stop u from standing with the people. Enough is enough! #EndSARS.”

Although Saliu Tanko Yakassai has been an ardent supporter of Muhammadu Buhari since his days in the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), his father, Tanko Yakassai on the hand is an ardent critic of the President.
