342 alleged victims of looting applied for recovery fund in Kwara

The Kwara State Government has announced that 342 businesses have applied to access its N500m small and medium enterprise (SME) recovery funds airmarked to support victims of recent looting and vandalisation of properties in Ilorin.

Making the disclosure, the Ag. General Manager of Kwara State Social Investment Programme, Mohammed Brimah, said in a release on Wednesday that by the close of applications midnight on Tuesday, “342 business owners (have filed) varying claims of loss.”

Clarifying the process involved in attending to the claims of loss received by government, Brimah said, “The government will next appoint a committee comprising persons of impeccable character, including civic groups, to work with insurance adjusters to verify the claims and ensure a transparent disbursement of funds to claimants.

“The process will begin this week and everyone concerned will be contacted in due course.”
