The Haashim Initiative for Community Advancement (HICA) has announced date for the commencement of camp for the first cohort of the Countryside Emerging Leadership Fellowship, CELF. The camp would now open on December 1 and close on the 14th December, 2020.
A statement by the Secretary of the Fellowship, Saadudeen Abdulrasheed, disclosed that the camping exercise, which would held between October 28 and November 10, 2020 was postponed to allowed the intending Fellows, who are secondary school leavers, concentrate on the ongoing National Examination Council (NECO) examinations.
The statement reads in part, “CELF is an equal opportunity leadership training platform for young secondary school leavers, especially those from the rural areas. The objective is to groom informed youths who are non-urban settlers to have sufficient exposure and training which would afford them the opportunity to contribute to the development of rural communities.”
The release also hinted on the activities that Fellows should look forward to while on camp, with specific mention of team building activities, mentoring, lessons in community development and social habits as some of them.
While stating that further arrangements in relation to the program, and camping in particular, would be communicated in due course, the statement thanked donors and sponsors while soliciting for more support to deliver an impactful programme.
