A group of concerned Kwara APC youth stakeholders who addressed a press conference in support of the embattled party Chairman, Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa have raised alarm of a threat to the lives of their members.
In a letter addressed to all the security agencies, a copy of which was obtained by INSIDER, the youths alleged that the fact that they stood with the party Chairman, Bolarinwa as against the governor has placed their lives at risk.
“…As conscientious youth, we chose to stand by the truth and made it known via our press conference organised on Wednesday 13th, 2020, at the State secretariat of our party, wherein we affirmed the leadership of Hon. Bashir Omolaja Bolarinwa and was widely reported in the media nationwide.
“Sadly, our members have been receiving threat messages and phone calls since we chose to stand by the truth, as against the limitless lucre being dangled around by the Governor and his supporters.
“We hereby put on notice that while we wouldn’t want to preempt by mentioning names, we want it on record that should anything happen to any of our members, we’ll hold the Governor and his supporters responsible.”
The letter, which was signed by the trio of Ahmed Yakub Ishowo, Adam Abdullahi and Adegboye Olawale John representing Kwara Central, North and South respectively, sought the protection of security agencies in the State for the Coalition’s members.
The Kwara APC has been engulfed in a crisis which has divided the party along two parallel factions, with some loyal to the party Chairman and some others the governor. The efforts of the national secretariat of the party to mediate in the raging crisis is yet to yield any commendable result.
