  •  Alleged KNCF received N5 million to stage a press conference
  • Gov. Abdulrazaq, Speaker Danladi, fingered as sponsors of Kwara North Agenda in PDP
  • Queried why APC politicians are not agitating for Kwara North for Governorship

The Concerned Kwara PDP Stakeholders have alleged that a group within the party, Kwara North Consultative Forum collected the sum of N5 million naira to stage a press conference on the pretext of working for the actualization of the ‘Kwara North for governor agenda,’ while the real motive was to cause disaffection in PDP in order to facilitate the second term of incumbent Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

The group fingered Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Speaker of Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu as sponsors of those described as “disgruntled elements within the ranks of the PDP.”

The allegations by the opposition members were contained in a statement late Wednesday evening titled, “Uncovered Plans By Gov. Abdulrazaq To Destabilize The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State Through Fifth Columnists And Disgruntled And Pliable Members Of The Party.” Wondering why the Kwara North Agenda was more pronounced in PDP while Kwara north politicians in the ruling APC have kept absolute silence, the group stated: “It has come to the notice of the concerned Kwara PDP Stakeholders the plot by the drowning Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led Kwara State Government to destabilize and cause disaffection within the ranks of the Peoples Democratic Party through the sponsorship of multiple pliable groups within the party to stand at cross purposes with the aim of distracting and destabilising the party, in its resolve to reclaim power come 2023.

“We’re aware of advanced permutations involving a pliable minority group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which is nothing but schemings of the drowning, deceitful and one-chance Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq led Kwara State Government, with a plan to stage a press conference aimed at causing disaffection within the ranks of the PDP in the State.

“It is disheartening that some disgruntled elements within the ranks of the PDP are covertly working for the ill-fated second term misadventure of Governor Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, through the sponsorship and indulgence of the Kwara State House of Assembly Speaker, a native and Prince of Gwanara, Baruten local government area of Kwara State.

“We have it on good authority that the group which goes by name Kwara North Consultative Forum, with the fake alibi of working for the interest of Kwara North Senatorial District towards ensuring the actualization of the long overdue Gubernatorial aspiration of the only Senatorial district yet to produce the governor of the State since the return of democracy to the State received the sum of #5m (Five million naira only) on Sunday, to stage a press conference on Thursday morning at a yet to be unveiled venue in Ilorin.

“It’s however sad that some of the Kwara North political shining lights are politicizing the collective wish of the people to commercialize the struggle, trade the people’s collective wish and ensure the aspiration never sees the light of the day.

“Our findings have confirmed that this is a major strategy of the mis-performing Governor of the State through the Assembly Speaker to ensure the PDP which is daily gaining public and street acceptance produces a weak candidate, with the aim of reincarnating the the 2015 misadventure of the PDP when it produced a weak candidate against the then serving Governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed and thus ensured his seamless return to the office”

The Kwara PDP Stakeholders group nonetheless appealed to the leadership of the party in the State to be at alert and ensure that destabilization elements within its rank are prevented from derailing the growing momentum of the party for their selfish gains.
