…Seeks Collaboration Ahead of Campaigns
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kwara State, Alhaji Shuaib Yaman Abdullahi on Sunday met Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) ahead of 2023 General Elections.
Yaman, during the interactive session held at Emirate Hotel, Ilorin, shared his vision for Kwara State ahead of PDP governorship campaign flag-off on Wednesday.
According to him, “We have the vision to make Kwara State one of the best revenue generating State apart from Lagos and a few others.”
He added, “It is embarrassing how Kwara government is borrowing and servicing debt. This is not sustainable at a time when government is not generating corresponding revenue. Production of cotton alone in Kwara can generate what we need to revitalise the State.”
The PDP governorship candidate also promised to spread development to every parts of the state.
In his words, “Every part of Kwara (South, North and Central) will receive adequate attention of our government. As it stands today, we already have discussions with major players in the manufacturing, food and technology industries.
“All of them are ready to their industries down to Kwara. DANO, Peak Milk and a host of others too.
We are looking at investing seriously in young people by exposing them to the right way of doing things.”
Speaking on his manifesto, the Edu born politician said he will run a campaign built on truth and present to Kwarans realisable manifesto, adding that “we are not going to promise what we cannot do.”
Yaman also clarified his relationship with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq whom he says lacks the competence to make good ideas practicable.
“I have had several opportunities to discuss with Gov Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, but I’m not sure he is convinced about those beautiful ideas. I believe this is why we are where we are today. When you don’t have the competence to make good ideas practicable, you are bound to fail,” the PDP governorship hopeful submitted.
While acknowledging the contributions of ASKOMP in disseminating information to Kwarans, Yaman sought effective collaboration with the association for a successful campaign.
Earlier, the Chairman of Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP), Salihu Shola Taofeek said the umbrella body for professional online journalists is engaging candidates in 2023 General Elections in order to understand their manifestos and communicate same to the citizens effectively.
