Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has congratulated 71 students from four tertiary institutions in Kwara State who have been awarded scholarships under the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation (ABSF) for the 2024/2025 academic session.

The beneficiaries were selected from Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa (14 students), Kwara State College of Education, Oro (6 students), Kwara State School of Nursing Sciences, Oke Ode (31 students), and Federal Polytechnic, Offa (20 students).

Saraki expressed his happiness with the timely completion of the selection process and the direct payment of school fees to the institutions. He commended the education committee of the ABS Foundation for improving the scholarship process, making it more formal, consistent, and effective.

The former Senate President noted that the scholarship program is part of his foundation’s efforts to give back to society, cushion the harsh economic impact on the people, and create a better citizenry for the country. He also announced plans to extend the scholarship opportunity to students in Kwara North, the North Central Zone, and two nearby states.

Saraki’s foundation has a history of supporting education in Kwara State. In 2013, he pledged to use his pension as a former governor to fund educational endowments, which has since supported over 400 indigent students.
