The African Action Congress, AAC, has reinstated Omoyele Sowore, who was earlier suspended as its National Chairman.
The party also announced the expulsion of its Treasurer and Secretary, Dr. Leonard Ezenwa.
Recall that a faction of the AAC, suspended Sowore on May 13, 2019, on alleged anti-party activities and financial impropriety, while appointing Leonard Ezenwa as acting National Chairman.
The AAC, after an emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, yesterday, reached a resolution to reinstate Sowore as National Chairman.
The resolution which was read by the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Joshua Adeoye maintained that the allegations levelled against the National Chairman which prompted his supposed suspension were false.
“The NEC outrightly rejects, cancels, reverses and totally repudiates the purported suspension of Sowore and Fabiyi from their offices.
“The NEC hereby affirms and reinstate Sowore as the one and only national chairman of AAC and Fabiyi as the deputy national chairman of the party”, Adeoye read.
The resolution also hinted that Sowore declared his campaign funds during the electioneering period and carried everyone along in his expenditures.
It also added that all actions carried out by Ezenwa in the name of the AAC, including documents signed or authored by him were dismissed, set aside and nullified forthwith.
It was gathered that Ezenwa ignored the party’s invitation to defend himself in line with article 80 of the AAC constitution which found him guilty of the alleged offences.
Consequent upon that, the party called for his arrest and prosecution for alleged forgery and perjury, among other criminal offences.
