Construction has begun at the Ilesha Gwanara road project which was long-neglected by the preceding administration of governor Abdulfatah Ahmed.
The project, according to the Kwara State government is expected to cover at least 20Km before the end of the week.
Recall that residents of Gwanara town had pelted stones at the convoy of former Senate President, Bukola Saraki and ex-Governor Abdulfatai Ahmed over the decrepit state of the Ilesha Gwanara road.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had earlier expressed dissatisfaction on the state of roads in Kwara State, with particular emphasis on Kwara North.
“This is particularly true of Kwara North. There is no road, for instance, from Ilesha Baruba to Gwanara, especially now that it is raining; and yet the contractor handling it is collecting money” the governor was quoted as saying shortly after his inauguration.
The governor pledged to fulfill his campaign promises to the people of Kwara, especially on road construction and provision of other social infrastructure, taking into cognizance the weight of expectation he’s inundated with.
