The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja today, ordered the release of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of RevolutionNow protest from the custody of the Department of State Security (DSS).
Justice Taiwo Taiwo struck out the application by the DSS to further detain the popular activist, after the prosecuting counsel had asked the court to deny him bail due to fresh charges filed against him.
Recall that the Federal Government had filed seven counts bordering on treasonable felony, money laundering and cybercrime against Sowore who had been detained for 45 days.
The court ordered Sowore’s release on the condition that he must deposit all travel documents within 48 hours of the ruling.
The counsel to the respondent, Femi Falana (SAN) was also ordered to produce Sowore whenever the court needs him.
