A contractor who pleaded anonymity has disclosed that the over #40.5 million that could not be accounted for in the total project sum of three hundred and sixty one million, nine hundred and fifty-seven thousand, four hundred and thirty-nine naira (#361,957,439) earmarked for the renovation of the Government High School, Ilorin, was returned to the Ministry of education.

Disclosing this on Saturday, coordinator of the Anti-Corruption civil society organization, the Elite Network for Sustainable Development, ENetSuD, Dr. Alagbonsi Abdullateef, said a contractor confided in him that the excess money on the project went to the Ministry.

Alagbonsi, whose organization had earlier revealed that irrelevant items worth #40,530,208 were added to the Bill of Quantity (BoQ) of the project, leading to the unnecessary increase of the total contract sum, was responding to a query about the possible whereabout of the differential.

At the time of filing this report, the Kwara State Ministry of education is yet to respond to either the allegation of contract inflation or that of collecting money from contractors for approved projects.
