A brutal attack by suspected cult members of the Eiye Confraternity has left the manager of a hotel in Ilorin dead. Anthony Balogun, who ran the hotel owned by his mother, was shot and macheted to death by two gunmen on Thursday night.

The incident occurred around 8 pm at the hotel in the Olunlade area of Ilorin. The assailants, posing as customers, requested to see the manager, and Balogun was called out to meet them. He was shot at close range in the chest and attacked with machetes on the head, hands, and legs.

Kwara State Police Commissioner Victor Olaiya confirmed the incident, attributing it to the activities of cultists following the 7/7 celebration of a rival confraternity, Aiye. He assured that the culprits would be hunted and brought to justice.

The police are working to apprehend the perpetrators and restore peace in the area. The case has been reported at the Ganmo Divisional Police Station, and the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Kwara State General Hospital Morgue.
