*Widows, party leaders, others as beneficiaries
Business woman, politician and philanthropist, Hajia Maryam Yusuf Aladi Saturday distributes relief items to the widows and other beneficiaries as part of her support for Muslims as the Ramadan fast commenced.
Hajia Yusuf, who is also the National Coordinator of the Grassroots Development Movement (GDM), used the platform of the organization to coordinate the distribution of the Ramadan package to a crowd of beneficiaries who gathered at the Fate distribution point.
The politician said the distribution of the relief items was on behalf of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq whose concerns for the welfare of the needy is unhidden.
“The governor, since coming to power, has commit to serving the interest of the everyday people in Kwara. This aligns with the objective of the Grassroot Development Movement which I head as National Coordinator, since our goal is to ensure that our people at the grassroots benefits maximally from interventions of government,” Hajia Yusuf said.
She added, “The distribution of this relief items is to indicate that myself and GDM share in the welfarist politics of His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. We are therefore making this intervention to cushion hardships for our Muslim brothers and sisters, especially in this holy month of Ramadan. This clearly aligns with the goal of Gov. Abdulrazaq who has consistently prioritised the wellbeing of Kwarans since assuming office.”
Hajia Yusuf also used the opportunity to thank all the executive members of the Grassroots Development Movement for their hard work in seeing to the improved standard of living of the people at the grassroots.
The beneficiaries of the relief items, including 10 widows drawn from each of the 11 wards of Ilorin South; ward, local government and state party executives, including all youth leaders, chairmen, vice chairmen, women leaders, treasurers, secretaries and others, were all in excitement at the official distribution of the food items which was also graced by party leaders and supporters.
