The candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) for Kwara North Senatorial District in 2023, Dr Kolo Jiya says he is confident he will not only win his senatorial election but that his party, NNPP will also win the State.

The retired Custom Officer said this while appearing on the Media Parley of the Association of Kwara Online Media Practitioners (ASKOMP) in Ilorin yesterday, Monday.

Dr Jiya said, in spite of its being a new political party, the NNPP is well positioned to take over Kwara State and also win majority of other legislative seats.

He expressed confidence that the party will spring surprises come 2023. According to him, fortune is about to smile on Kwarans, especially the good people of Kwara North.

“It is time to give meaning to representation. Our people deserve the best, not the usual excuse of ‘I have tried my best’. Your best is not enough. Let other people who are ready and prepared to better the lives of our people take over.

“I am ready and prepared to give it my all for my people to enjoy the dividend of democracy due to them. I will work assiduously everyday to ensure I improve the wellbeing of the people. I will not leave any stone unturned”.

On Kwara State and the performance of Governor AbdulRazaq, he claimed that NNPP is very confident that Prof. Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem will have a landslide victory over APC, because he ( Prof. Oba) has what it takes to rule Kwara and reposition it for a better and more efficient State.

Dr Jiya, who denied that he has soft spot for both PDP and APC, said he has very cordial relationship with so many members of these two political parties, but he has never joined either. He further emphasized that NNPP is the only political party that could wrestle power from the hegemony and the syndrome of ‘Mega
Party’.

The senatorial candidate further pointed out that Kwara State had experienced governance in the hands of the so called ‘Mega Parties’ and it has nothing much to show for it, especially in Kwara North.

“Without mincing words, NNPP is a Godly party. Whatever we promise to do, we will abide by it. I can assure you that when I eventually win this election, I will prioritise bills that will guarantee security of lives and properties of my people. I will move motions and also support motions that will revive our ailing Agricultural sector in Kwara North. I will be glad to do programmes and collaborate with State Government, Non-governmental organisations and any willing donor agencies that will improve the quality of education of our Children.”
