The outgoing Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has announced he won’t be attending the inauguration ceremony of his successor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
In a press release this morning by Ambode’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Habib Aruba, the outgoing governor
said Sanwo-Olu deserves to enjoy his historic day without him sharing the glory with him.
“I have already formally handed over reins of power in the State to the new Governor in a most cordial and convivial ceremony at the State House yesterday.
“The formal inauguration should have Mr. Sanwo-Olu as the star of the day. I don’t think that glory should be shared with him by my presence,” Ambode said.
Ambode relished the private moment he had spent with his successor, and expressed optimism that with the prayers and support of Lagosians, the new administration will succeed in tandem with the tradition of excellence governance in Lagos State is notable for.
