Senator Dino Melaye, has affirmed recent speculations linking him to the forthcoming governorship election in Kogi State.
According to viral reports, Melaye made public his intention to run for governor at
a meeting of Kogi West PDP executives yesterday at his country home in Aiyetoro Gbede.
The senator who currently represents Kogi West Senatorial District, reportedly
responded with “very true” when quizzed on his governorship ambition by newsmen.
His media aide, Gideon Ayodele, stated that Melaye solicited the support of the party executives and also expressed optimism of emerging the next Kogi governor.
Ayodele further added that, “the senator was responding to the call from PDP leaders present at the meeting, asking anyone interested in contesting to signify intention within two weeks.
“At this point, Senator Dino Melaye stood up and informed the meeting of his intention to join the race to Lugard House, the seat of Kogi State government come November.”
Senator Melaye has also expressed his readiness to run for the position on his Twitter handle.
