The Kwara State Government has strongly condemned the alleged assault on a female National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member by a teacher at Government Day Secondary School, Kulende, Ilorin.
Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, described the assault as unacceptable and contrary to the state’s values of peace and harmony.
“Kwara State is renowned for its peaceful coexistence, and the government will not condone any action that disrupts the existing harmony in our academic institutions,” she emphasized.
The government has taken swift action, with the Ministry’s Anti-Loitering Team and the Management Team of the Kwara State Teaching Service Commission conducting an unscheduled visit to the school to investigate the incident and restore calm. The accused teacher, Mrs. Amuzat Fatima Nike, has been summoned, and disciplinary procedures will be implemented accordingly.
The Commissioner urged the management of the NYSC and all stakeholders to remain patient and law-abiding, assuring that the state government is committed to fostering a safe and conducive environment for learning and professional service.
