The Kwara State Government has officially announced the approved academic calendar for the 2024/2025 session, outlining the schedule for all primary and secondary schools, both public and private, across the state.
According to a statement signed by Peter Amogbonjaye, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, the approved calendar ensures a standardized academic structure for the upcoming year. The calendar includes resumption dates, midterm breaks, and closing dates for each term, as well as holidays and duration of each term.
The approved calendar is as follows:
– 1st Term: September 17, 2024 – December 13, 2024 (13 weeks)
– Midterm Break: October 31 – November 1, 2024
– Holidays: December 16, 2024 – January 3, 2025 (3 weeks)
– 2nd Term: January 6, 2025 – April 4, 2025 (13 weeks)
– Midterm Break: February 20-21, 2025
– Holidays: April 7, 2025 – April 25, 2025 (3 weeks)
– 3rd Term: April 28, 2025 – July 25, 2025 (13 weeks)
– Midterm Break: June 5-6, 2025
– Holidays: July 28, 2025 – September 12, 2025 (7 weeks)
The statement emphasized that all schools in the state are expected to strictly adhere to the approved academic calendar, with any violations resulting in appropriate sanctions. Boarders are required to resume on the Sunday preceding the resumption date for each term, and all national and public holidays must be observed accordingly.
