In the spirit of 2023 elections, a group of young people in Kwara have come together to play a novelty match to celebrate their togetherness.
The novelty football competition would take place at the Play Sports, Unilorin Gate, Tanke-Ilorin.
According to one of the organisers of the event, Yusuf MutiuOlaitan, while speaking to InsiderNg on Saturday, the novelty football competition is otherwise tagged “Play With Kwara Youths”. It is a type of Hangout with bright Kwara youths. A type that we don’t have so many around. We have all converged to wine and dine on many occasions but this time around it’s a special one that which will be organized by each and everyone of us. He said, part of the goals of this mini gathering is that, irrespective of political leanings, we play together and live the moment together as one.
Speaking further, Mutiu explained that the Play With Kwara Youth is set to feature notable young people in Kwara who are of different professions, political parties and so on. People will get to see the likes of bright youth they have only seen or heard on social media. Some of them are; Tajudeen Habeeb Tallest, Abdulrasaq Aiyelabegan, Abdulrasaq Abdulazeez, Issa Ayobami Megabyte, Bashir Lukman Unique and a host of others.
Mutiu said some young people in politics of Kwara who are expected to turn up for the novelty match today are the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, Mallam Rafiu Ajakaye, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Communication, Ibrahim Abdullateef, the Press Officer on Home Affairs to the Former Senate President, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir amongst others.
The competition is expected to hold for just a day. It comprised of four teams and each team has a head coach. The teams include:
– Team Olohungbebe coached by the popular Community Development Practitioner, Dr Lawal Olohungbebe.
– Team Advocate coached by renowned Sociologist, Abdulrasaq Abdulazeez.
– Team Actor coached by the popular Public Speaker and Political Analyst, Comrade Olarewaju Ishowo.
– Team Godfather coached by Ahmad Rufai who is generally regarded as ‘Baba for the Boys’.
One of the coaches while speaking to InsiderNg expressed joy and happiness in seeing young people coming together for the purpose of love and unity. According to Abdulazeez Abdulrasaq the coach of Team Advocate, “Everyone I see on the group chat of Play With Kwara Youth gives me enormous joy and I am happy that regardless of our differences we can come together and proof to the world that indeed Kwara is a State of Harmony. I look forward to my team winning the competition today.”
