A stakeholder of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara State has said the speculation that the party’s frontline aspirant for the Ilorin South Constituency seat in the 2023 election is a ‘new comer’ in Kwara politics is not true.

Alhaji Qadri, who spoke in a chat with newsmen in Ilorin said the aspirant has been with Gov. Abdulrahman since his days with the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC). He also narrated the efforts she made in the 2019 elections that brought the governor into office.

“Hajia Maryam has always been a keen loyalist and supporter of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq. She loves the man and his politics, that I know for certain. During the 2019 Otoge revolution, she was a strong canvasser and mobilizer for Kwarans leaving in Abuja, and she still came home to Ilorin to do the same. She spent her resources to support the Otoge struggle that gave us victory in 2019,” the party stakeholder narrated.

Speaking further, Alhaji Qadri noted that while some people have left the governor because they were not given appointments, Hajia Maryam has remained consistent with her support for Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq .

He called on party leaders in Ilorin South Constituency and beyond to be fair and stand by Hajia Maryam Yusuf Aladi, noting that “she has been loyal and spending her personal resources in promoting the governor and the party.”

The party elder, who also presented our reporter with some photos showing Hajia Maryam Aladi’s political activities for APC in 2018, said he is prepared to answer anyone who has questions to ask regarding his claim.
