The leadership of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has denied knowing one Comrade Adebayo Kayode, a sandwich student of the University of Ilorin who recently issued a statement on behalf of the association in defence of His Grace school which is battling to clear itself of allegations bothering on ritual and child molestation.

It would be recalled that last Monday, May 24, this medium published a story captioned, “His Grace Schools: Ritual Suspicion Trails Alleged Molestation Of 8 Yr Old Pupil” where someone who live close to the school alleged that the school had severally been accused of ritual by concern members of the public. This was coming on the heels of an alleged molestation of an 8 Yr old pupil by a Yoruba teacher, Hammeed Akorede in the Oyun branch of the school.

Following the publication of that report, which also contained a petition written to the Kwara State Commissioner of Police by the father of the alleged victim, Vincent Fadunmade, His Grace school got Comr. Adebayo Kayode, who claimed to be an ex-Officio 1 of NANS and one other person who paraded himself as President of National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students to author a report exonerating the school of the allegations.

A part of their statement titled, ‘NANS, NANCES CONDEMNS NAYSAYING AGAINST HIS GRACE SCHOOLS’ reads: “The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) has cleared air vis-a-vis rumour being circulated by unscrupulous elements against His Grace schools. NANS leadership led by Comr. Adebayo Kayode National Ex-Officio and Comr. Mahmud Abubakar President, National Association of Nigerian Colleges of Education Students together with other student leaders embark on a fact-finding visitation to the school in Ilorin today.

“Comr. Adebayo Kayode noted that the leadership of NANS Zone C covering (North Central and North East) awarded His Grace schools as an Outstanding School in the year 2019 because the school management has worked assiduously toward ensuring effective and efficient delivery of educational service at affordable charges compare to other schools in the Kwara state.

“After a thorough fact-finding visitation to the Oyun area where the school is situated and discussion with people living around the school, conversation with bloggers who published the information and meeting with the management of the school it becomes imperative to make our position as an association known to the general public.”

It added, “our fact-finding visitation has given us a clear picture of the politics been played by some people who are bittered about the progress recorded by the school. I wonder how on earth such news would be published without visiting the school or putting a call across to the school management before publishing such news.” The statement ended by requesting members of the public to ignore what it described as “rumour in circulation.”

But barely two days after releasing their statement in defence of His Grace Schools, revelations emerged that the said Adebayo Kayode who paraded himself as NANS ex-Officio 1 was paid to stage-managed the acclaimed fact-finding mission.

A Kwara-based medium, Informant247 quoted a NANS source who disclosed how Comr. Adebayo entered an agreement with the management of His Grace to spearhead a stage-managed fact-finding mission for monetary compensation.

The source was quoted to have said, “Yes, they paid them for the mission, I am in the know of how things played out. It is very unfortunate that they allowed themselves to be used for such mission. The other guy, Mahmud came to Ilorin and Kay (another name for Kayode Adebayo) called him to join, telling him that money is involved.”

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Kwara State Chapter of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, have described Comr. Kayode Adebayo who awarded a clean bill of health to His Grace Schools as a “notorious impersonator” who is unknown to the association at the national level.
