In a groundbreaking operation, Nigerian authorities have uncovered over 250 containers filled with Tramadol and various narcotics at the country’s ports. This massive bust comes as National Security Advisor, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu launches a comprehensive war against drug trafficking.

To tackle the menace, an inter-agency task force has been formed, comprising members from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Customs, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), and the Army. This task force will track the origins of the narcotics, seize them, and ensure their destruction.

The discovery of these containers highlights the severity of Nigeria’s drug trafficking problem. The country has been grappling with the issue for years, with various agencies working to combat the smuggling of illicit substances.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has been at the forefront of this battle, collaborating with other agencies to intercept and seize narcotics. The Nigerian Customs Service has also played a crucial role in detecting and preventing the smuggling of illicit goods.

According to the NSA, as the war against drug trafficking intensifies, government is sending a strong message that it will no longer tolerate the smuggling of illicit substances. The formation of the inter-agency task force is a significant step towards tackling this menace and ensuring the safety and well-being of Nigerians, Ribadu said.
