The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gboyega Oyetola has defeated Mr. Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who had approached the court to challenge his victory at the polls.
In a lead judgement read by Justice Jummai Hannatu Sankey, the Appeal Court, sitting in Abuja, ruled in favour of the governor, Gboyega Oyetola and declared him the substantive winner of the Osun 2018 governorship election.
The election tribunal judgment had earlier ruled in favour of Senator Ademola Adeleke winner.
Oyetola, his party, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had filed a substantive appeals praying the court to set aside of the decision of the tribunal.
Adeleke had also filed a cross-appeal, challenging a portion of the decision.
Although there was a dissenting judgement from one of the judges on the panel, majority favoured Oyetola.
