A brutal attack occurred on Sunday, January 19, at the Celestial Hebrew Cathedral Special in Idiroko, Ipokia Local Government Area, Ogun State.
Pastor Abayomi Adetula, the 55-year-old founder and leader of the church, was murdered by unidentified assailants during a worship service.
Eyewitnesses described the horrific incident, stating that gunmen stormed the church around 10 a.m. and opened fire. Adetula was specifically targeted, and initial shots failed to penetrate his body. The assailants then used a hammer and machete to inflict fatal wounds.
The manner of the attack suggests that the perpetrators may have been professional hitmen. The incident is currently under investigation according to the Ogun State Police Command.
