Plenary proceedings of the House of Representatives today, was thrown into disarray as the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila announced the list of principal officers.
The PDP lawmakers went haywire when the Speaker announced Ndudi Elumelu as the minority leader of the House, jettisoning a letter by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nominating Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader.
Following the rancour, plenary was adjourned as some unidentified lawmakers attempted to snatch the mace, urging the speaker to continue with the announcement, as according to them, the party’s list should be announced instead of the nomination list, which has the name of Ndudi Elumelu as minority leader.
One faction of the PDP is rooting for Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader, Chukwuma Onyeama as Deputy Minority Leader, Yakubu Barde as Minority Whip and Muraino Ajibola as Deputy Minority Whip; while another faction opted for Ndudi Elumelu as Minority Leader, Toby Okechukwu as Deputy, Gideon Gwani as Minority Whip and Adesegun Adekoya as Deputy Minority Whip.
The PDP is the largest minority party in the Ninth House of Representatives.
