Protesters opposed to the reelection bid of Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, mobilized to the street today to register their displeasure over the governor’s insistence on a second term despite allegedly running the state to the ground.
Following reports that Governor Bello was at the APC National Secretariat to purchase his nomination and expression of interest forms to contest in the November 16, Kogi governorship election, the protesters stormed the streets chanting, “Yahaya Bello must go”.
One of the protesters who spoke to newsmen said, “We don’t want Bello. We have made our position known and APC should have taken into consideration the chaos in the state.”
He also stressed that the protesters were never hired by political rivals of the governor, adding that they’re genuine supporters of Kogi APC who mobilised themselves when it was obvious the governor would purchase his nomination form today.
