The Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) Foundation, led by former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has kicked off its annual Ramadan iftar meal-sharing program, targeting communities in five states across Nigeria. The initiative, which began on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, aims to provide meals to the less privileged during the holy month of Ramadan, fostering unity and support amid the country’s challenging economic climate.
Speaking on the launch, Dr. Saraki emphasized the significance of compassion and collective prayer during Ramadan. “This is a time for togetherness, giving, and supplication—not just during Ramadan but beyond,” he said. “All Nigerians, regardless of religion, must use this fasting period to pray for our nation and seek Allah’s intervention.” He urged privileged individuals to step up and make the season more bearable for those in need, particularly given the prevailing economic hardships.
The ABS Foundation’s Ramadan Iftar program will run for the last 10 days of the holy month, distributing meals across selected mosques in Kwara, Niger, Borno, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. According to Hon. Musa Aliyu, the North Central Regional Director of the ABS Foundation, the initiative is expected to serve over 100 people per mosque, with more than 50 mosques targeted in Kwara State alone. Similar efforts will take place in the other designated states.
In a statement released on March 19, Aliyu described the program as a longstanding tradition of the foundation, designed to extend love and support to the Muslim Ummah. “This gesture ensures that the needy can participate in the fasting without facing deprivation,” he said. “It’s about sharing love and ensuring no one is left behind during this sacred time.”
