Senate adjourns for two weeks, sets up ad-hoc committee on welfare

The Senate has adjourned its plenary session till July 2, to afford the National Assembly management ample time to liaise with a 12-member ad hoc committee on welfare set up by the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan to allocate offices and seats to the senators.

The senate will reconvene on the said date when the committee headed by Senator Abubakar Kyari (APC, Borno), would have completed their assignments.

Members of the 9th Senate sat for the first time today after being inaugurated two days ago. The members resolved to embark on a 2-week break in a closed session of the senate which lasted for an hour.

The members of the adhoc committee on welfare include: Senators Jibrin Barau (APC, Kano), Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Niger), Stella Oduah (PDP, Anambra), Betty Apiafi (PDP, Rivers), Chukwuka Utazi (PDP, Enugu), Aishatu Dahiru (APC, Adamawa), Ibrahim Gobir (APC, Sokoto), Bassey Akpan (PDP, A/Ibom), Gabriel Suswam (PDP, Benue), Solomon Adeola (APC, Lagos), among others.
