The State Security Service (SSS), on Sunday afternoon, highlighted reasons for the arrest and continued detention of popular activist and Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, who was whisked away in the early hours of Saturday by security operatives in Lagos.
According to the spokesman of the SSS, Peter Afunanya, who confirmed the arrest to newsmen in Abuja today, Sowore was arrested because of his ill-fated arrangement with foreign actors to destabilize the country through his planned #RevolutionNow protest.
Although, the protest had been termed “an act of terrorism” by the police, the organizers, nonetheless, vowed to carry on the mass action across 21 states in the country on August 5 (tomorrow).
