As the campaigns for the 2023 General Elections pick up, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate for Ilorin South Constituency, Hajia Maryam Yusuf Aladi has reiterated the need for unity and peace among the people, especially at the grassroots.

The politician stated this while receiving the planning committee of the inter-ward football tournament for Ilorin South which, according to her, she sponsored in order to promote peace at the grassroots level, especially among the youths.

“When someone brought up the idea of a football competition among the youths across the eleven wards that made up Ilorin South Constituency, I immediately embraced it because I see the potential of using such initiative to drive unity and peaceful coexistence among the people, especially the youths,” Maryam Aladi said.

She also noted that her interest in supporting anything that will reinforce peace in Kwara was because of her belief that everyone needs to support the efforts of the Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to reposition the State for rapid growth.

“I know that there can be no development without peace. This is, therefore, my own way of fostering unity and peace, especially during this electioneering period. I hope the love and camaraderie reflected all through the period of the competition between all teams and players across the wards will continue through and beyond the election,” the soft spoken politician concluded.

Meanwhile, the semi finals of the game has been slated for Saturday, October 1st at St. Michael School, Taiwo Isale Ilorin. While the first of the semi final matches will play at 4:00PM, the second will come up at 5:00PM, same day and venue.

The finals, which would come up on a yet to be announced date, is expected to be graced by dignitaries, including Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and other APC big wigs.
