A petition put forward by Lawrence Okoh seeking to ban the popular Big Brother Naija TV reality show has received close to 16,000 signatures as at the time of filing this report.
Okoh, who posted the petition on change.org last Monday, said “Big Brother Naija has become an avenue to spread immorality in our country. Nigerians must rise up to put an end to this cancerworm.”
The petition, which has received significant social media promotion, especially on Facebook, has amassed endorsements of significant young Nigerians, many of whom joined Okoh to condemn what they called “the obscene nature of the BBN program.”
Yahaya Abubakar, one of those who signed the petition, said “the level of moral decadence on BBN is highly repugnant.” Another said the program “promotes immorality.”
The petition, which the promoter said is to President Muhammadu Buhari, targets 25,000 signatures.
