Two commercial vehicles collided with each other yesterday at the newly commissioned Geri Alimi underpass in Ilorin, killing one person with several others injured.
The fatal accident which reportedly occurred at about 8:10 am on Wednesday, was caused by over speeding which resulted in a head-on collision between two 18-seater buses.
According to eyewitnesses, two Mazda buses, one with registration number XY 525 FST was heading for Ilorin from Ogbomoso, while the second bus with registration number LRN 208 ZA was leaving the town when they collided.
Passengers in the crashed vehicles were forcefully pulled out of the rubble, with one male confirmed dead, and two other males sustaining severe injuries.
