The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressive Youths Forum, APYF, held its first post inauguration public lecture on Saturday, themed, “Deepening Democracy: Kwara State in the spotlight”, at the Banquet Hall, Ilorin.
The event which was well attended, also witnessed the maiden magazine presentation of the Kwara State chapter of the Forum.
Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, who was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Dr. Yakub Manjo, congratulated the APC youths for the role they played in the struggle for a paradigm shift in the state, which he said has paid of, as many youths in their 30s got elected in the State House of Assembly.
The governor said he was fascinated by the theme of the event which talks about deepening democracy, as well as entrepreneurship.
He reiterated that his administration was very passionate about youth development, empowerment and engagement, adding that young people would not be left out of governance.
The National Leader of the APYF and Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Investment Programmes, Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed, who was represented by Mallam Umar Abdullahi, urged the youths to get more involved in politics using the instrumentalities of the APYF which provides them a viable platform to thrive.
The APYF North Central Coordinator and Chairman of Coordinator Forum, Mr Muhammed Abdullahi, while presenting the magazine, expressed faith that the maiden edition of the publication would serve the good purpose of preserving a legacy that all subsequent youth engagements in the politics of Kwara State would be built upon.
Abdullahi lauded the Kwara State coordinator of the Forum, Mr Tunde Salau for recording a first by leading Kwara APYF to produce a magazine that is indisputably the first by any youth political association in the state.
He said, “I sincerely applaud Tunde and his team for leading in this direction of creating a medium through which information regarding the struggle for youth political inclusion can be documented and disseminated.”
Governor Abdulrazaq, through his representative, Dr. Yakub Manjo, dedicated the magazine to the glory of God and the benefit of humanity.
The event was hosted by the APYF Personality of the Year and Special Adviser to the Vice President on IDPs, Mr Mohammed Brimah.
