Head of the North-East zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr Michael Wetkas, has revealed that about three per cent of the commission’s operatives are corrupt.
Mr Wetkas made the disclosure today during a town hall stakeholders meeting facilitated by the EFCC in Gombe State.
The top official of the anti-graft agency, noted that the commission had chosen to organize the town hall meeting in an effort to interface with members of the public to enhance its efficiency in the fight against corruption.
Although, Wetkas owned up to the fact that some officials of the EFCC were corrupt, he however downplayed the figures.
“It is unfortunate the figure that is attached to corrupt officers in the commission.
“There are about 3 per cent of our men that are corrupt”, he stated.
“We are not happy seeing people go to jail. But that is what we have signed to do,” Mr Wetkas added.
