As preparation for the second season of Play With Kwara Youths, PWKY, gears up, a team has been named in honor of the publisher of INSIDER NG and a youth development enthusiast, Mr. Mohammed Funsho Abdullahi.
Tagged Team Moh, the team is one of the six named after influential Kwara’s young people in the second edition of the much talked about unifying sports competition that has brought together youths from across all divides in the State.
Other teams listed in different categories of the sporting event include Team Godfather; Team Advocate; Team Otukoko; Team Actor; Team Olohungbebe; Team Enact; Team Akanbi Oke; Team Apere and Team Abdulqadir.
According to the committee saddled with the responsibility of organizing the event, the team compilation was done after careful consideration of the skill level, experience, and diversity of participants.
“We aim to provide a fair and exciting platform for all teams to compete and showcase their abilities,” the committee said.
It went further, “The entries, 126 (93.3%) were from male participants, while 9 (6.7%) were from female participants. We are delighted to witness an increasing participation from our female youths, and we encourage more young women to actively engage in sports and showcase their talents.
“We are proud to state that 129 (95.56%) of the participants hail from Kwara State, showcasing the incredible talent and diversity within our own community. Additionally, 6 (4.44%) participants are from neighboring states, namely Osun, Oyo, and Ekiti, demonstrating the inclusive nature of PWKY and its ability to attract youths from beyond our borders.”
Play With Kwara Youths (PWKY), a sports-based establishment aimed at fostering unity among Kwara youths regardless of political parties, affiliations, or tribes, is entering second edition, with additional competitions such as Table Tennis, Ludo/Whot, and Football.
