The Hijrah Islamic Organisation has announced plans to host a large-scale rally on Sunday July 7th to mark the commencement of the new Islamic calendar, 1446AH in Ilorin, the headquarters of the organisation in Nigeria.
According to the organisation’s publicity committee, the rally will be used to create awareness for the commencement of the New Islamic Calendar Year.
“This event aims to commemorate the occasion and unite all Muslims in celebration of the new year. The rally promises to be a momentous occasion, fostering unity and solidarity among attendees.”
The Hijrah holds great importance in Islamic history, as it symbolizes the establishment of the first Islamic state in Medina and the inception of the Islamic calendar. The Islamic calendar, which is lunar-based, originates from the year of the Hijrah, corresponding to 622 CE in the Gregorian calendar. This pivotal event marks the beginning of a new era in Islamic history, commemorating the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) migration from Mecca to Medina, a journey that laid the foundation for the growth and development of Islam.
