Mama Saraki’s Funeral Arrangements Announced Amidst Outpouring of Sympathy 

The late Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, wife of the revered Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki Oloye, a distinguished statesman from Kwara, will be laid to rest on July 19, 2024, in Lagos, marking the final farewell to a remarkable matriarch.

According to a statement released by Abdulqadir Abdulganiyu, Press Officer to former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the two-day ceremony will feature a series of events to honour the beloved matriarch.

“There will be a Service of Songs for Mama on July 18th, 2024, at 4:00pm, Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, VI, Lagos.”

“The funeral service, holds on July 19, 2024, at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Marina, Lagos Island.”

“Reception for guests holds same day (July 19, 2024) at 2pm, Harbour Point, Wilmot Road, Victoria Island,” the family said.

The Saraki matriarch and mother of former Senate President of Nigeria, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, died on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the age of 89.

Since the passing of Chief Mrs. Florence Morenike Saraki, her family has received an outpouring of condolences from a diverse range of sympathizers, transforming their Lagos and Abuja residences into a hub of condolence visits. The visitors include political leaders from various parties, business associates, foreign and local dignitaries, traditional and religious leaders from both Muslim and Christian communities, prominent figures from across the country, government representatives, industry leaders, disability groups, friends, and family.

In Abuja, former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has continued to receive esteemed guests, including serving and former governors, ministers, and National Assembly members. Notable visitors include Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who led a Senate delegation to pay condolences, as well as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, who headed a delegation from the House. Additionally, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, visited Saraki to offer his condolences. These visits demonstrate the widespread respect and admiration for the Saraki family during this difficult time.
