A devastating fire outbreak occurred at the Kwara State High Court Complex in Ilorin on Sunday night, damaging Courtroom No. 10. The incident happened around 8:02 pm, triggered by a power surge that caused an air conditioner to malfunction.

Fortunately, the swift response of the Kwara State Fire Service prevented the fire from spreading to other courtrooms and offices. Hassan Adekunle, spokesman for the State Fire Service, confirmed the incident and praised the bravery of the firemen.

“The fire truck and crew promptly left the station to mitigate the unfolding incident,” Adekunle said. “Undeterred by the escalating situation, the brave firemen immediately sprang into action, successfully containing the fire and saving the Ilorin High Court from significant damage.”

This isn’t the first time the Kwara State High Court Complex has experienced a fire outbreak. Earlier this year, a similar incident occurred, damaging 40 offices, three open courtrooms, the Registry department, and the Litigation Office. The cause was also attributed to a power surge.

The repeated incidents highlight the importance of electrical safety measures and prompt emergency response. The Kwara State Fire Service’s quick action saved the day, but it’s crucial to address the underlying issues to prevent future occurrences.
