Saraki, Clerics Urge Reflection on Mortality at Maja’s Fidau

Former Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki joined family, religious leaders, and political associates yesterday, October 15, 2024, to pay tribute to the late Alhaji Suleiman Yusuf Kayode Maja at his fidau prayer. Maja was a loyal supporter of the Saraki political dynasty and a close friend to the Saraki family.

At the prayer, Saraki commiserated with Maja’s children and family, acknowledging his unwavering loyalty and commitment to the Saraki Political family until his last breath. The Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Dr. Muhammad Bashir Soliu, led the fidau prayer, urging those present to emulate Maja’s good deeds and praising Saraki for his support.

Islamic clerics Alhaji Suleiman Danboronu, Sheikh Abdulrasaq Aduagba, and the grand mufti of Ilorin, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq-Onikijipa delivered lectures emphasizing the significance of death as a lesson to mankind. They reminded the powerful that death is a leveller, citing examples of those who misused power and resources.

According to Sheikh Faruq-Onikijipa, contemplating death and preparing for it through good deeds is essential. Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) emphasized that those who are most aware of death and prepare themselves for it are the wisest of people and will have honour in this world and a generous reward in the Hereafter.

Dignitaries attended the fidau prayer to honour Maja’s impactful life. Saraki also visited the families of late Engr. Yusuf Aliyu and Sarikin Gobir, Captain Muhammad Yusuf Gobir, offering condolences and prayers for the deceased and their families.
