Kwara Workers to Earn N70,000 Minimum Wage from October

…Decision includes consequential adjustments to the relevant salary structures – Comm. for Finance

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the payment of N70,000 as the new minimum wage for workers in the state, effective October 2024. This development follows a successful tripartite meeting between government representatives, labour leaders, and private sector stakeholders.

The Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Hauwa Nuru, confirmed the approval, stating that the new wage includes consequential adjustments to the relevant salary structures and will be implemented across the state’s public service, including the 16 local government areas. Dr. Nuru expressed gratitude to Governor AbdulRazaq for granting the minimum wage committee full autonomy to negotiate a mutually beneficial agreement.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s proactive approach has been praised by many, who appreciate the collaborative spirit that led to this achievement. The new wage policy is seen as a timely measure to alleviate the effects of current economic realities in Kwara State and the country at large.
