Comrade Ayodele Olawande, Minister of State for Youth Development, was honored with the esteemed traditional title of “Sarkin Aikin Arewa” (A king who supports the development of the North) at the second Arewa Annual Carnival. This prestigious event, organized by the Arewa Youth and Women for Change, took place at the breathtaking Yankari Game Reserve in Bauchi State.
Dr. Mohammed Nasir Yusuf, General Manager of Yankari Game Reserve, praised Olawande’s passion, energy, and commitment to his work, stating that these qualities have endeared him to all Nigerian youth. “This is the first time we have a Youth Minister who is truly a youth, and his tireless work ethic proves that youthful energy is essential to delivering on the government’s mandate,” Dr. Yusuf said.
Upon receiving his title, Olawande expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality and friendship of the Bauchi people. He also thanked Northern youth for their unwavering support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. “Your belief in our government is encouraging, especially considering the temporary challenges we face. The impressive turnout for our student loan program, with almost 70% of participants from the North, demonstrates your trust in our leadership,” Olawande noted.
Olawande reassured the audience that President Tinubu’s administration would ensure inclusive programs and interventions, promising that the current economic challenges would soon be overcome. He appealed for continued support from Nigerian youth nationwide, vowing that his administration would not let them down.
