Nigeria’s Federal Government has given the green light to print and distribute one million science textbooks to public secondary schools across the country. This initiative, approved by the Federal Executive Council, aims to bridge the gap in essential subjects like physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, and computer science.
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Heineken Lokpobiri, presented a memo on behalf of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), highlighting the need to align Nigeria’s engineering and technology advancements with the global community. The PTDF Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Programme seeks to build capacity in the oil and gas industry.
Lokpobiri emphasized the importance of catching up with the rest of the world in terms of technological advancements. The initiative will support secondary school education, addressing deficiencies in critical subjects.
This move is expected to have a positive impact on Nigeria’s education sector, empowering future generations to compete globally.
