The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that married female corps members are no longer required to change their maiden name to their spouse’s name for redeployment. This change is part of a broader review of the criteria for concessional deployment/relocation approval for married female corps members.
According to a circular issued by the NYSC, State Coordinators have been directed to follow new guidelines when processing relocation requests. The key change is that married female corps members are no longer required to change their name to that of their spouse to be eligible for redeployment.
This update is expected to make it easier for married female corps members to relocate for various reasons, including family or personal commitments. The NYSC has emphasized that all other requirements for redeployment remain unchanged.
The new directive is set to benefit many married female corps members who have been facing challenges with redeployment due to the previous name change requirement.
